Both of us grew up in households where a pre-packaged, frozen, heat up in the oven kind of dinner was utterly unacceptable. The baking was the same; don’t even think about coming home with pre-made cookie dough… pillsbury was essentially forbidden (at least one of us would just eat it raw sometimes… a guilty pleasure that should remain confidential). However, this has given us a great appreciation for home cooking and baking. Learning recipes from our mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers is one of our favourite things.
Today, we want to talk about these muffins. They come from a long standing family recipe and are an amazing breakfast, grab and go or pre-workout snack. Your hubby’s will love them, your kids will love them, and naturally, we think you will love them too. And there are so many reasons why.
Firstly, they can be made gluten free, if that is of importance to you. Secondly, they have a great combination of textures in each bite; putting the extra crumb mixture on top gives it a little extra flair. Thirdly, and most importantly, the taste will bring you back to your childhood when your mom or grandma would have fresh baking ready for you. Finally, they are nice and easy to make, something we think most of us need in our busy lives.
