Who wears short shorts??  Yah…we know.  So how do you make short shorts fun again?  Patterns our loves, patterns.  We love to wear basics and solids and black on black, BUT should the mood strike we are all over patterned shorts!  They are so fun and such a great way to change up your look.  This week we are all about those printed shorts and how to wear them dressed up and dressed down.

We are starting off with polka dot shorts the casual way.  How?  We took these white shorts with black polka dots and paired them with a fun, graphic tank top.  Coco Made Me Poor.  It’s a true story so why not wear it and admit it?!  We put this with a Brooklyn ball cap, some Rayban aviators and flip flops.  Cute…casual…patterned fun!

So you need to dress up your patterned shorts a bit?  No problem!  Whenever we need a great, basic, hot tank we always rely on the brand Parker to get us there.  This one has a great racer back style.  We tuck it into our shorts with our leather espadrilles, silver jewelry, and hot red purse!  This outfit is so cute.  It can also be worn with wedges and looks so cute too!

Now, we know it’s summer so we also know you might be hitting up the beach in some of these printed shorts so we’ve styled a pair that way for you. Cute flamingo patterns.  Yes please!  These higher waist-ed shorts are a bold move for us but one we are all over when it comes to pairing them with little bikini top (and bottoms).  Yes, we can get on the hip-ster train… slowly but surely.

Next, “dressed up”… dressed up with the swimsuit pairing being the baseline here.  White printed shorts obviously need a white top to match it.  Even more obviously, the outfit needs some white shoes to complete the look.  Sorry, spoke to soon, it actually needs a pink Chanel to complete the look.  DUH

What printed shorts are you rocking this summer?!

Weekend trips in the summer are essential.  East coast…west coast, doesn’t matter – there’s plenty of options of where to go and what to see.  BUT, that’s not what we are focussing on today.  Today we are talking about how to make those weekend trips a breeze and as easy peasy as possible.  We love them and want more of them so to make it simple makes it easier to do more of them!  Let’s see how two A-type individuals have minimized their bags and maximized their time away!

First, two dresses.  That’s it.  That’s all you need.  Almost.  A cute white dress and a cute blush dress are really all you need and you’re good to go.  You can wear either of them during the day with your Adidas Stan Smith sneakers or you can dress them up with casual heels in the evening.  That’s all!  We also love our Chanel wallet purse for weekend trips so that all our essentials fit in perfect and you can wear it cross body during the day or clutch style at night.

Next, the little things.  It always feels like there’s so many little things needed for a long trip and just as many for a weekend trip.  So, all we did was take those essential items and minimize them.  We use a sheer pink gloss all day and all night when we are away.  We also use small sample size perfumes and never go anywhere without our Touche Eclait.  We put all our little essentials into our cosmetic bag so that they are easy to find and not buried at the bottom of our bag.

Finally, the simplest things…  We love lace bras and barrettes for short weekend trips so that they are easy to fold and sexy if the mood suits.  We also depend heavily upon our Louis Vuitton square scarf.  It acts as a shall so that you don’t need to pack a bulky sweater or cardigan and it acts as another layer if you want a splash of colour with your two dresses.

Packing list?  1 weekend, 2 dresses, 1 runner, 1 heel, 1 purse, 2 underwear, 1 bra, 1 scarf, some cosmetics and a PASSPORT and you’re off for the weekend with the most essential packing program!

    XO,

    Samantha and Michelle

Sequins…not just for Christmas parties and fancy dresses.  They are more than just a cliche 80’s accoutrement to an outfit and they definitely don’t need shoulder pads to be pulled off!  Not only is it not 1984 and it’s not Christmas – it’s SUMMER and right smack dab in the middle of it.  So what are we doing with shiny little things on our outfits?!  We are having fun with them, that’s what!!  Let’s take a look at how we are wearing summer sequins in our lives all day and all night!

Let’s start with the most casual way, shall we?!  Thought so.  This sequinned top is shorter at the front to give a little bit of a crop look and pairs soooo cute with jean shorts, very fun white wedges and a plain purse so that the beading on the top is what really stands out.  We love the pale tones on this outfit so that nothing is loud or obnoxious on it and you can go from day patio to evening patio quite easily!

Next, we’ve kept with the beaded top, this one is a bit more sheer so you can be playful or not depending on what you wear underneath (please wear something underneath, don’t be that girl).  We have paired this blush coloured sequin top with high waisted textured off white shorts that are dressier and matched them with our fave blush cut-out heels from Zara.  We muted the basic Louis Vuitton clutch and silver jewelry so that the top pops!

Now we move to the dress of all dresses.  This sequin number is our fave!  We apologize for the repeat on our blog but we adore this dress.  It’s incredibly comfy and so fun to play with.  It can go with Adidas tennis shoes or white Louboutins (as shown).  We love how it is so versatile and so much fun.  We have paired it with this floral purse just for some fun!

Last, we saved not only the “dressiest” but the most feminine version of sequins.  We love this floral skirt so much and it looks adorable with this sheer off white sequin top that is so girly and feminine we almost can’t stand how much we love it.  We paired it with the most feminine purse we can think of – the classic Chanel bag and some patent wedge sandals.

Summertime and business really shouldn’t mix in our unsolicited opinion.  We should all have summers off.  Truly – look at it outside and tell us we are crazy for thinking that.  No?  We thought so.  Nevertheless, we don’t!  So…how do you make summertime business time look a little more chic??  Yah…we wonder that all the time!  In the office, off to a meeting, out for a liquid lunch – all of it requires looking businesslike but looking chic too – this week we are doing just that!

Michelle’s office is generally a little more casual than most but when it comes to meetings, events, coffees and lunches, she can business chic it with the best of them!  She goes in layers because in the summer it’s baltic in her office and scorching outside so it’s nice to be able to adapt quick and easily.  She does this by wearing a slip under her navy button down dress and a sleeveless white vest over top.  It replaces the jacket you sport all fall and winter and gives a little more warmth inside.

Summertime business chic also means summertime business accessories!  This Prada bag is the perfect size for a notebook and an ipad to fit in!  The flat espadrilles with the pearl accents make the outfit a little more dressy and make it easier to hoof around downtown between meetings.

Obviously like Michelle, Samantha went the dress route.  It has been roasting hot and difficult for us to handle so dress pants would be a strong no go.  This polka dot beauty let’s some fun light summer colours come through while not being overwhelmingly colourful.  After all, we are certain you know how we feel about too many colours.

We’ve paired this dress with some cute peep-toed heeled booties to keep it professional yet summer-y.  Summer-y=airy in this scenario.  We’ve also added sunglasses (it’s bright out there folks!!!) and our trusty Chloe bag.  Our Chloe bag has been our summer go-to.  It’s light and a perfect colour to match any summer outfit we’re rocking.

Anyone else obsessed with the way their legs look in high heels?!  Yeah us too, despite constantly being told how bad they are for your feet and your calves, we do it anyways.  Wear heels a lot?  Think we are totally out to lunch on this whole “heels are bad for your feet” thing?  Okay, try to do a squat.  Did you do it?!  Okay, now try to do a squat in your heels.  Easier, right?!  Yeah, that’s NOT ok.  It’s just a sign as to how tight your calves are from wearing heels all the time.  Don’t do squats?  Well then aren’t we lucky *end insanely sarcastic voice.  Despite that little bit of jealous, you may as well keep reading about how were STILL wearing heels and not listening to what anyone else says too.  Shorts and heels coming at you!

Our first shorts and heels pairing has some COLOUR.  Hallelujah.  We are finally getting somewhere.  Are all of you completely sick of our really boring colour schemes?!  Well we are not – FYI.  We like being boring, and when we do change it up, like with these magic wedges you are all surprised and enjoy it.  So there.

We’ve gone with the all white shorts and heels outfit and decided to bring in that little magic pop.  Not only do most stand out in heels and shorts as shorts usually are regarded as more casual attire, but we really brought the standout brightness today.  We love pairing shorts with wedges too as it helps bridge that “relaxed”/”dressed up” gap you can sometimes see.

The next set of shorts and heels are the kind that you can wear day or night or anywhere in between.  Back to black.  Shocking.  That really didn’t take us long at all!  Black heels and a black sleeveless top make these ripped jeans work into the evening and beyond.  Louboutins have a way of doing that…

We love pairing distressed jean shorts with dressy heels and adding anything else with it.  It gives more versatility to an outfit and is incredibly fun to rock anywhere from patio to patio.  This outfit can easily be altered by swapping ripped jean shorts for dressy black cuffed ones and you have yourself a whole new look!  Try it out!
